How often should I have an Eye Test?

If you are a child under 16 or an adult over 70 you should have an eye test every 12 months.You can have your eye test under the NHS for free.

If you are over 18 and under 69 you should have an eye test at least every 24 months.If, however, you feel that your vision has deteriorated or you are concerned about your eyes, you should have an eye test sooner. Contact us on :01207 590 111 to discuss your concerns.

Does my child have to be able to read for an Eye Test?

No- we can carry out a complete Eye Test at any age.You can arrange an Eye Test directly with us and do not need a referral from your doctor or school nurse.

Can you do a complete Eye Test at Home?

Yes- our portable equipment makes it possible for us to do everything at your home that we do at our practice.We can easily do a complete Eye Test around a hospital bed and you can even have your test lying down if you have difficulty sitting up.

Do you do Home Visits everywhere?

We currently do NHS Home Visits in County Durham and Tyne and Wear.

We do private Home Visits throughout the North East of England.

Do I have to be able to read or speak for my Eye Test?

No- we are experienced in testing people who are unable to communicate with us- including people who have suffered strokes or have dementia.We believe that they too can benefit from an eye test and have invested in the latest eye testing equipment so that we can accurately test our patients' vision and eye health with minimal input from them.

Do I qualify for an NHS Eye Test and Home Visit?

I broke my glasses.Can you repair them?

Yes- we can do most repairs in our own lab.
